Requirements:
- Strong CNC machining background
- Considerable knowledge of the machining qualities, properties, and uses of various metals such as aluminum, brass, steel and stainless steel.
- Skill in the operation of machine tools and the use of precision measuring devices.
- Ability to read and work from schematics, specifications, and blueprints.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Experience running horizontals, Matsuura experience is a plus.
Additional Skills Preferred:
- Independent worker
- Setup experience is a plus
- Good understanding of geometric dimension and tolerance (true positions, profile tolerances, etc.)

- Deburr and clean all parts that are produced at IDL Precision Machining
- Understand quality control and inspection procedures within the department
- Maintain and assure that all associated documentation is correct and complete
- Interface with other employees/trainees and work centers as required to accomplish assignment
Requires the ability to use equipment common to the trade, such as orbital sanders, pneumatic hand grinders, micrometers, and hand files.

The ideal Planner candidate communicates well with all team members, specifically with Production Lead, Machinists and Estimators to implement and maintain various manufacturing plans, bill of materials, work instructions and illustrations which define and document planned and as-built configurations.
Assists with selection, development and integration of suppliers, and processes throughout the supply chain to meet manufacturing and delivery requirements.
Finalizes manufacturing planning configuration (operations) for Production Controller to follow; takes and records all customer requirements from drawings and purchase orders to ensure this information is included in manufacturing planning.
Assists in reviewing supplier capabilities to ensure manufacturing related requirements are met.
Assists in providing input to design, manufacturing processes and manufacturing technologies to meet cost and schedules.
Develops sequencing of events for manufacturing parts in order to support delivery commitments.
Assists in the review, maintenance and monitoring of internal documents.
Works under general supervision.
- 2+ years’ experience as an Aerospace production planner in a manufacturing setting
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 requirements

- Represent the company in the acquisition of outside processing services and goods required to assure on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
- The primary objective is to identify and work with outside processing vendors to achieve high quality on-time delivery of metal machined parts, purchase of raw materials, tooling and general company supplies.
- In accomplishing this, the Purchasing Manager will evaluate, and determine the best supplier, value and delivery for those products.
Basic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand material requirements from customer drawings and be able to calculate material dimensions
- Interact with stakeholders within the company to assure the correct materials ordered.
- Order services, materials and tooling based on manufacturing and engineering requirements
- Find best product for the best price, from reliable vendors and negotiate long term agreements
- Assure that the acquisition of all goods will meet the requirements of the contract as well as customer specifications

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Nature of Work: The IDL Precision Machining Mechanical Engineer plans, directs and coordinates product development and manufacturing processes in the plant; responds to engineering and manufacturing issues and concerns and interacts with customer engineers on design for manufacturing to insure products are produced to specifications and according to manufacturing schedules while ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Confers with staff concerning product manufacturing approach, fixturing and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
- Proactively evaluates. Develops, and improves manufacturing methods.
- Provides timely, accurate and competitive quotes of potential new business.
- Determines the processes, identifies the materials and supplies to be used, and assists in the design of fixtures necessary for efficient and cost effective manufacturing.
- Creates assembly instructions for new products to be manufactured.
- Recommends and institutes changes (through documentation and training) in the production processes for efficiency improvement.
- Confers with vendors to determine part, tool or equipment specifications.
- Assists in Capital equipment definition, procurement, and implementation.
- Knowledgeable and capable about Lean Improvement tools, with experience on implementation of such.
- Confers with management, production team, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

Qualifications:
- Education - Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Mechanical Engineering, and 5 years’ experience, or 11 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Must have the ability to: Read, analyze, and interpret common industrial, manufacturing and technical procedures, schematics, diagrams and blueprints, aerospace engineering drawings (including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing); Computer skills such as Word, Excel; attention to detail and critical thinking.
- Write reports, business correspondence, assembly instructions and procedural manuals.
- Respond to common inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or other members of the manufacturing community.
- Speak effectively before groups of customers or company employees.
- Mathematical Skills, Reasoning. Define manufacturing problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form that include several abstract and concrete variables.
